Wild caught, Barents Sea, Norway

PELAGIC RESERVE

UAE · Wild · Pure

Red king crab in glass. Four expressions of the same fishery, from whole merus sections stood upright in the jar to hand-picked meat ready to fold into a dish — caught in the Barents Sea off Norway, traceable to the catch, and packed here in the Emirates.

Kept chilled below 8°C and ready the moment you open it. No thawing plan, no picking. You can see exactly what you are buying through the glass — which is the whole point of the format.

The collection

Four tiers, one fishery

The difference between them is grade and cut, not quality. Each is packed in the same Straight-sided glass jar with a flush metal lid, in 500 g and 250 g.

Why glass

You can see what you are buying

Premium crab is normally sold in a way that hides it — an opaque vacuum pack, a tin, a frozen block. You judge the grade after you have paid for it.

Glass removes that. You can see the grade, the fill and how the sections were packed before you buy, and again before you serve. A jar that has been packed carelessly has nowhere to hide.

The format is also simply easier. Kept chilled below 8°C, the jar is ready the moment it is opened — no overnight thaw, no picking, no plan required.

Frequently asked

Is jarred king crab as good as frozen legs?
It is a different proposition rather than a lesser one. The jar arrives chilled and ready, so there is no thaw to manage at home — which is where frozen crab usually loses its texture. What you lose is the theatre of a whole leg; what you gain is crab that is ready the moment you open it.
Does it need to be refrigerated?
Yes. PELAGIC RESERVE is a chilled product: keep the jar refrigerated below 8°C at all times, from delivery until it is finished. Once opened, keep it cold and use it within a day or two.
What is the difference between the four tiers?
Grade and cut. Imperial is 4L–7L red king crab packed as whole merus sections. Sovereign is up to 3L red king crab in leg sections. Prestige is red king crab leg sections, not all cut clean, with body and shoulder meat. Select is hand-picked meat without shell.
Where does the crab come from?
It is Norwegian red king crab, wild caught in the Barents Sea and supplied with a catch certificate and trace record for every lot, then produced and packed in the UAE under food-safety supervision, in a facility registered with the US FDA and certified for EU traceability.
Is it halal?
PELAGIC RESERVE is certified Tayyib compliant, and certificates are provided on request. Crab is considered permissible by many Islamic scholars as seafood, though rulings vary by school of thought; households and venues with specific requirements should confirm with their own authority.
How does pre-order work?
PELAGIC RESERVE is taking pre-orders for the first production run. Choose the tier and size on its page and press pre-order: your WhatsApp opens with the jar, size, quantity and total already filled in. We confirm your delivery date in that thread before taking payment.
